GIA's mission is to ensure the public trust in gems and jewellery by upholding the highest standards of integrity, academics, science, and professionalism through education, research, laboratory services, and instrument development.

GIA offers globally recognised programmes in gemmology and design, as well as classes in retail sales. The Institute operates a campus in Mumbai and classrooms in New Delhi and Surat. It has additionally reached out to over 180 locations across India providing courses, seminars and workshops. GIA has trained more than 15,000 professionals in India alone.
