GIA iTunes Whether supplementing your current enrollment, or updating the skills of your chosen profession, GIA Continuing Education helps you stay up to date with current trends in the jewelry industry.

GIA on iTunes U - your 24/7 free online continuing education program

Benefits for Students

GIA has partnered with Apple, Inc. to provide free continuing education online through GIA on iTunes U. Current or former GIA students can access a wealth of digital material that covers many topics including gemstone mining and sources, treatments and synthetics, current industry trends, and more.

With GIA on iTunes U, you use your computer or iPod (iPod not required) to download up-to-date course content that complements your current gemology program or informs you of course information that may have changed since you graduated. You can download audio and video segments featuring valuable information related to your coursework or current profession. The bonus:You stay connected to GIA anytime, anywhere.

Benefits for Graduates

What's more, if you already possess either the Gemologist or Graduate Gemologist credential, you are eligible to enroll in GIA's Continuing Education Recognition Program. This program recognizes your efforts to stay on top of current industry trends–and lets your customers know that you have made a commitment to provide them with the most up-to-date jewelry knowledge. All you have to do to get started is register.

There is no fee to access GIA on iTunes U. Any current or former GIA student can take advantage of the benefits of staying in touch with GIA–and in touch with current industry trends.

 

My GIA Registration & GIA on iTunes U Instructions

Register for My GIA:
  • 1. Go to GIA website: www.gia.edu
  • 2. Click on: Education
  • 3. Click on: Continuing Education
  • 4. Click on the photo link to: Register for My GIA
  • 5. The My GIA registration page will open up
  • 6. Fill in all required fields on application, marked with red asterisks (* first name, last name, address, email, home/cell, date of birth, gender)
  • 7. Click on Continue, then on Finish
  • 8. Confirmation: In 2-3 days your User ID and password are emailed to you
Install iTunes:
Log in after receiving User ID and password:
  • 1. Go to GIA website: www.gia.edu
  • 2. Click on: My Education login Virtual Campus
  • 3. Enter your unique User ID and password
  • 4. Change this temporary password to your personal password as instructed
Launch GIA on iTunes U:
  • 1. Go to My GIA
  • 2. Log on using your unique GIA user ID and password
  • 3. In the "Resources" box, click on: Go to GIA on iTunes U
    (This validates your ID, opens iTunes, and takes you to the GIA on iTunes U landing page.)
  • 4. Select the icon of the subject you wish to view
  • 5. Click Subscribe to download the most recent segment to your computer
    (Don't click "Get Tracks" or it will take too long to load.)
  • 6. In your iTunes Library, click Podcasts.(The blue bullets identify newly downloaded episodes.)
  • 7. Click on iTunes Store to get back to GIA on iTunes U

You are now ready to advance your knowledge with GIA on iTunes U!
