GIA recently conducted a seminar for jewellers in Bangalore on the 4Cs (colour, clarity, cut and carat weight). GIA instructor Vijay Parmar presented an interactive seminar where attendees learned how diamonds are graded based on the GIA-created 4Cs of diamond quality.

Skill Building Seminar, Kolkata

GIA conducted a three-day seminar on diamonds and coloured stones for retail jewellery staff at PC Chandra Jewellers in Kolkata. The attendees learned practical information about diamond quality and value, synthetic diamonds, simulants and treatments, and coloured stones. GIA Instructor Aneri Raichada introduced various sales tools using relevant examples on how to close a sale.

GIA recently conducted a seminar on “Detecting Heat Treatment in Corundum” for members of the Jaipur Jewellers Association. Andy Lucas, GIA’s manager of field gemology and course development, and GIA instructor Kashish Sachdev presented the interactive seminar, which also included a Question & Answer session. Jaipur Jewellers Association President Vijay Kedia and Honorary Secretary Anil Bumb thanked GIA for providing such knowledge.

GIA recently conducted a seminar for jewellers in Bhopal on “Gemstone Treatments.” Attendees learned about fracture filling and other interesting information on common diamond and gemstone treatments. The interactive session allowed participants to share their understanding and experience with gemstone treatments.

GIA conducted a consumer seminar on “Gemstone Treatments” for the members of the Kolkata Gem & Jewellers Welfare Association. Attendees were eager to learn about gemstones and various other facts on common diamond and gemstone treatments. Mr. Pankaj Parekh, regional chairman of GJEPC in the eastern region, was the chief guest at the seminar.

A Corporate Seminar for Jewellers was conducted in association with Jewellers Association Jaipur (JAJ), at JAJ building Johari Bazar, Jaipur. The topic of the seminar was The Charm of Ruby.
It was a well attended seminar. Few of the Prominent jewelers present were Mr Nirmal Bardiya (RMC), Mr Pramod Agrawal (Derewala Jewellery), Mr. Rajesh Dhamani (National Faacets), Mr. Vijay Kedia (President-JAJ), Mr Anil Bumb (Hony. Secretary-JAJ) and Alok Sonkia (Jt. secretary).

A CSJ in Kathmandu was conducted in association with the Federation of Nepal gold silver gem and jewellers association.
The CSJ started with the chief guest, Dr. Satya Mohan Joshi lighting the candle. Office bearers from 13 Associations which come under FNGSGJA and office bearers from 4 other Federations attended the seminar.

It was a very interactive session , with active participation from all present.

Seminar on Synthetics

On Friday, 14th February 2014, at the GIA Office in Mumbai, Ms. Sally Magana, Research Scientist, GIA Carlsbad USA, conducted a special seminar on

‘Understanding synthetic diamonds and GIA’s diamond check machine’. The event was attended by GIA students, GIA Alumni and also people working in the diamond trade.

The seminar was an insight on the synthetics, lab processes and ultimately information on GIA’s diamond check machine.
